DG, I think I figured out the problem. I am using Google Maps so save coordinates, instead of street addresses (because the locations I am picking from a map don't have an address, obviously.) Evidently, the coordinates used by Google Maps and saved in the gpx file I can create are not "understood" by the satnav system. Instead of coordinates, I just now tried to upload a gpx file of a specific street address, and I am able to pick that uploaded POI as my destination, no problem.
So, the issue appears to be the format of the data / coordinates within the gpx file that I am creating. It must be formatted in a way that our satnav can understand. 34.516458 and -118.383865 coordinates are no good. I need to find a different way to save these spots on a map.
Also, no bmp / icon file. I am not asked to pick an icon when the gpx file is generated. Without it, the satnav in the car assigns a generic yellow star by default, which I can change to another icon (the ones included in the satnav all suck, but I don't much care about the icon look.) Umberto B

glad you sorted it ...the icons are obviously down to individual taste but you can generate personalised icons if you wish 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Apologies but I have searched high and low and this seems the most relevant thread for my question/problems.
Been trying to load up speed camera GPX data from pocketworldgps files ( I registered and downloaded the gpx data) however no matter which sets of files I try the nav always comes up with an incorrect/corrupt file error.
Am I missing something obvious here? I have the 'consolidated' file download which has 5 sets of data files and 5 .bmp icons but try as I might I get the same file corrupt messages, sometime immediately upon trying sometimes after 30 seconds of 'loading'.
Tearing my hair out with this, are the gpx files in the wrong format or? Any pointers appreciated.

Have you physically checked that the files are .gpx ? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

The download files appear to be 'GPX' - XML files, this is the 'header from one of the .gpx files:-
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no" ?><gpx version="1.1" creator="PocketGPSWorld.com" xmlns="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1 http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1/gpx.xsd"><wpt lat="50.68305" lon="-2.17787">
<name>40-G-1</name>
<desc>PocketGPSWorld</desc>
So assuming from my research that .gpx is just a form of xml they seem fine?
Or should they be some other mysterious format!?
Lost in a sea of tags and confusion now.....

You have to look in the file folder and check that each file ends in .gpx e.g. (pocketgps_uk_pmobile.gpx) which is the Garmin format.
You can download .csv files and convert them into .gpx by using POIEdit 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Definitely all the correct file/formats. with .gpx extensions.
I've downloaded all 3 sets of .gpx data files from pocketworld now and will go through the motions again at lunchtime, something is escaping me somewhere.
Cheers.

Are you putting each group of .gpx files along with the icon .bmp into folders on the USB stick ? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Hey DG,
Worth a delve into the archives, great advice and proof any " Bear of very little brain" like me can become a computer Guru - well with the help of a 15 yr old son.
Very funny if anybody could have seen us driving out late at night to find a speed camera (first road test ) then about 100 yards before we hit it a bing bong goes off, to mass hysteria, fist pumping and front seat celebrations...........only leaving us about 10 feet to slow down to avoid the whole point of the exercise

I have a 2014 Land Rover Discovery and have just tried and failed to upload speed camera POI's to my navigation system.
I downloaded the "Garmin Other" GPX file from http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/ and followed the instructions in my user manual but I'm getting the following message...
"My POI is corrupt or incorrect. Please select another file to import."
I've tried both th UK and European files but neither will work.
Any ideas?

Go further down the dropdown list and select "Other - GPX" 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Cheers DG.
I had already chosen that file. Anyway, I persevered and kept trying and it worked eventually
