Manual Heat/Vent
After going on the LR Experience session at Honiton I asked the instructor to look at a few quirky things on my car. After opening the car door, pressing the audio switch to turn on the display, touching the timed climate soft button it displays a screen with the Manual Vent and Manual Heat dimmed (not operable).
I then showed him a problem with the navigation screen and I locked the car. He sought the advice of the chief instructor but when we returned to the car the buttons were solid and were operational! They continue to be intermittant however and usually to get the heater to work in the mornings I Â have to programme it to come on in 5 minutes time. There seems to be no logic as to when the buttons are or are not working. Any ideas?
Although it clears the windscreen 20 minutes is not enough to get the cabin warm.

Yep I read that. Ignition must be off, radio on just as I described above. Still intermittent greyed out (and I know software isn't intermittent )

Car booked in on Tuesday for Nav software upgrade. Will ask if this also cures this anomaly.

Dealer (Westover Christchurch) stated unequivocally that the manual heat/vent is only available when the engine is running. He then undermined his credibility by saying it was due to the drain on the battery ignoring that timed climate could be programmed and operated without starting the engine. On Tuesday I want to have another discussion with him when I take the car in. Unfortunately my car will be up to temperature when I have the discussion. However am I right that with remote timed climate you activate the heat/vent immediately (It's not remote programming)?Â

I've had quite lengthy discussions with the local dealer and LR customer services about the manual heat & manual vent buttons.
After much toing and frowing of telephone calls and emails between the dealer and customer services and waiting for them to consult with their experts at LR, the final and definitive conclusion was.........
Wait for it.....
This is the definitive answer......
Direct from the experts at LR........
The answer is that......
They're useless and don't really work

At the dealers today I was given a copy of a 12 page Topix document on the Auxiliary Heater. It says
"Parked heating/ventilation is controlled by direct selection on the Touch Screen Display. This is achieved by using the TSD to program one or two "on/off " cycle start -times per day......."
There is absolutely no reference at all anywhere in the document to Manual Heat and Manual Vent buttons so everyone is making it up how these are suppose to work. Mine only seem to be available after I've run the engine and turned it off so I have to use the programming to start my heater in a few minutes time.
Before anyone else says it "I should have bought the remote"
