Wanted, 20" overfinch super sport wheels x 4 |
|
Hi, like above really, I've sold my 17" rims and now using my 18" SE wheels at the moment but think a set of these wrapped in cooper discoverer LTZ's wood look outstanding.
I don't fancy the 22's, a bit to bling for my tastes and my offroad use is limited to dirt tracks, a little mud and fields so don't think I'd ruin them.
Has anyone any experience of the replica wheels? Do the stand the test of time or do the crack and fall apart. The discos quite heavy, can imagine it puts quite a strain on the wheels.
Guidance and help very much appreciated here. I bow to your superior knolage. Narpy Grill, tinted windows, Smooth leather wheel (TLO Group buy), ACM fitted (thanks TLO), Rear door loom and Row 2 & 3 audio switch upgrade, RRS 20" wheel change, 285 Cooper LTZ's Sat Nav Mod (until I get a Faultmate upgrade), Front & Rear lamp guards. 4x4 screen now switched on - Woody32, Follow me home reverse lights - woody32, Auto release EPB - Woody32. Off Road Navigation - Woody32. Remap + EGR's switched off. Full chassis clean and Waxoyl.

Nothing wrong with replica wheels.
In fact in many cases it can be the obscure companies that make them that may also make for the major manufacturers.
But, biggest problem is getting a decent wheel versus a cr@p one.
So stay well clear of Chinese copies sold on eBay and those 'specialist' wheel suppliers that pop up.
Best bet is to use a known and reputable supplier eg someone who advertises in the monthly LR mags - at least you should get some form of guarantee and have some come back if anything goes wrong.
Remember to ensure the wheel you go for has the correct weight rating and that the width & offset is suitable for your chosen tyre size.
My Stormers are copies and been running them for around 6 years and IMO much better than the LR OEM.
BTW, The proper name for the LTZ is Cooper Zeon LTZ, there's no 'discoverer' in the name.
Andy at AJS has best price for the 275/45/20 (tell him I told you ),
though I'm running 285/50/20 (with some mods required) ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Thanks ronp, that's some very helpful info..
I've just been outbid on some eBay wheels so I think I'll leave them to it. Sounds like I just had a lucky escape
What sort of mods would be needed to use the 285.50.20's. I really want to fill the arches but I'm not overly competent at major mechanical work.
Just zoomed up the news agents.. Lots of adverts now to paw through.
How would I know what a weight rating is?
Thanks.
