Wheel Bearing Replacement (Rear)

Hi All,
I need to replace the rear wheel bearings on my D3. I've sourced new ones for £45 each and am now looking for advice on a) removing old ones and b) fitting new ones. What are the major issues if any? I presume I'll need a bearing puller and a torque wrench.

All help gratefully received.

Raymond

Remove the brakes etc as per the Brake bible, then you'll need a press as a puller won't get the hub out.
The inner hub needs to be pressed out of the bearing before you can remove the large circlip retainer thingy. You can then push the bearing out. Press the new bearing in, refit the circlip and press the hub back in.

Straight forward enough, have done a few now. Only sticking points are the requirement of a press, and suitable tools.
The upper hub bolt tends to seize inside the bush, and may require cutting out.
The EPB cable also may be seized into the hub, but not normally a big issue

I'd do the fronts as a DIY job but I would leave the rears to my indie. Easy enough with the right equipment but not worth the hassle doing it at home in my view.

Anyone got a pair of decent rear brake backplates for sale?

Just doing my rear bearings, brake discs/ pads and new parking brake shoes on my 2004 104k miles V8 4.4, D3, got the nearside hub off and the brake backplate is so rusty its not worth putting back. Shocked so decided to replace both. But I cant find new ones on any of the websites. Rolling Eyes Anyone got new ones or good SH ones you could sell me?
