Auto Box reluctance..?

Hi chaps.
I've noticed that since the onset of the cooler temperatures, the gearbox in my D3 seems to 'stick' in 5th, and won't change up to 6th in 'D' mode.
It will change up in 'command shift' mode, but even this seems a bit touch-and-go...
Is this normal? Maybe a sensor somewhere 'holding' the lower gear to cause the engine to get to operating temp. quicker? (Talking of which, it seems to take an excessively long time to get 'up to temp.' too....?)
It also seems to be considerably 'thirstier' than it was before the 'big chill' set in...?

Your thoughts/experiences would be most enlightening..... Bow down Bow down

Cheers,

Do you get to standard running temp at all? If not, wonder if the thermostat is sticking open - all your symtoms would follow if the engine was running cold.

Normal, it's designed to do that - just the box doing its thing until you are really up to temp.

Thumbs Up

How do you know what gear it's in when it's in D? My RRS just shows D I think Confused

I think my thermostat is sticking open as it takes forever to warm up so would like to see if my gearbox is doing the same.

Yes, display shows 'D', but when you push the stick sideways (into D-Sport) then forward into 'Command Shift', the gear you're in shows where 'D' was; mine was in '5' when, given the speed & throttle position, i'd have expected '6' to be showing.....?

Hey ho, it's a Landrover..... Yawn

Slide over from 'D' is automatically in Sport mode, doesn't go to manual select until you actually use it i.e. forward for up , backwards for down.

Check your LCD message centre and you will see, in tiny caps letters, the word SPORT

I've got the RRS - I thought the name suggested it was always in 'sport' mode Laughing Wink Whistle
