Just thought after 60,000 miles and 3 years of ownership I’d record how the 59 plate Disco 4 has performed.
2 x sets of warped front discs replaced
Rear suspension bushes replaced approx 54,000 miles
Rear diff replaced at 59,000 miles
4 sets of Scorpion Zeros
It has towed, has carried loads, has been properly off road and regularly in the mud, to axel point, and hammered up and down the motorway.
Sat nav regularly loses lock
Air bag failure
Fuel guage is random and am sure has been messed around with by software updates.
Constant random pings and bongs and flashing lights from parking brake failure (yes mud and wet don’t help, but it’s a 4 x 4).
I love the vehicle, it does everything well and as a combination of load carrier, 4 x 4, family car and motorway cruiser, it combines them all better than any other vehicle I have driven on any continent. The problem is that I do have my nagging doubts about long term reliability and the seeming built in obsolescence at the end of its warranty period, which will mean that I will soon part with it and would seriously question recommending a Disco 4 at its current second hand value, with 60k plus mileage to anyone for fear of the big bills that they would inevitably soon face. That said, I would probably buy another and it still brings a big smile to my face.

 you need one where you live  -------------------------------------------------
if you cant hold on dont let go , it ill come in handy for something even if you never use it.

4 sets of tyres seems alot for 60k miles. 15k per set. You need some ATR's...

3yrs and 80,000 miles only issue has been a new engine required at 75,000 miles (under warrantly) when it seized with no warning on the motorway! Can't fault the dealer I now use (Pentland Motors in Edinburgh) or Land Rover in how they dealt with the issue - just glad it was a warranty job. So I now have a three year old disco 4 with a new engine.

which engine? 2.7 or 3.0?

I have just moved my 3 yr old D4 on. It had 45'000k on it, superb car, only minor gremlins with fuel gague etc. Having given it very careful consideration, I decided to replace it with.........Yes.....another D4........love them. New engine output mated to the 8 speed box is a real treat IMO improved what was already very, very good. D4 3.0 SDV6 GS 13

I change mine regularly so it is always in warranty Seriously though, All three LRs that we own are that impressive that I can't see us in anything else tbh. I WOULD recommend a D4 to anyone personally My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription
