got stuck in engine oil specs?

eat this:

http://sas-origin.onstreammedia.com/origin...index.html

you enter all specs that your favourite oil is covering,
then you tick the spec the engine needs.

the spider diagram will show you very quick, if the choosen oil will fit or not.
please have a look at the data grid on the right hand.

HTHS (high temperatur, high speed) is one of the major indicators for a good oil (the higher the better).
SA (sulfatus ashes) should be as low as possible, if you have an pdf.

i found the comparsion tool today, maybe it will be helpfull for somebody.

cheers

High-Temperature, High-Shear

HTHS is High Temp High Shear is a test method to mesure oil vis under "High Temp High Shear" conditions that would be useful in a engine such as valve train or bearing areas.

De facto is the oil's ability to resist the shear stresses

No Naks...that one is over my head!. It is proving very difficult to buy oil for my LR4 TDV6 3.0 without DPF
so am looking for alternatives

Pez, all you need to look for on the bottle is the Ford spec wss-m2c913-C or wss-m2c913-D

here is a list http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-2440-ford-wss-...e-oil.aspx

this is what I have been using in my Puma, and will start using in my D4 starting in February. You can see the 913-d spec on the label:

Thank you Naks. That is a good site. My book says "Use only 5W-30 oil meeting specification WSS-M2C934-B." But from everything I've read M2C913 should be ok and easier to find here!

Yep, only only need 934-B if your vehicle has a DPF.

Like you, none of the D3/D4 in South Africa have a DPF, so it's fine to use 913C/D Thumbs Up
