Compare the market came up Chaucer Direct never heard of them before but for £310 with £0 excess, swmbo has sp50 and i i i have sp30 and that's the cheapest insurance I have had in 10 years.
I'am 34 she's 32, I can insure the car and a bike cheaper than this year than I could the car alone last year.

Just got my renewal in from Admiral Muticar for 4 vehicles. They wanted a total of £2656.89p so I contacted them today and got a girl first who only dropped it a few hundred quid so I said I would be phoning about first. Phoned them later and got a chap called David who was very helpfull after i said I was not going to renew my insurance. He then said hold and went and chatted to somebody and then came bach and I managed to get my overal cost down to £1144 and what a saving as long as you get an adviser who is willing to help and get the premium down.
I am now paying £169 for the Disco 3 fully comp, Disco 2 is £149 fully comp, SHMBO vaux Corsa 148 fully comp and my sons Peugeot 206 who was the biggest quote at the start for a 20 year old with one accident I managed to get him down to £678 fully comp as he was TPFT when first insured.
So it does pay to haggle as most insurance companies will jack up the cost when it comes to renewal and some motorist will pay the premium. So do not be afraid to haggle and make sure you get a good advisor as I am sure some of them may be on commision.

Wasting tour time with Privilege.
True - but then go to Direct Line. It's effectively the same company, with the same quotes, but get a 15% new customer discount. And because they already have access to your Privilege data, everything transfers seamlessly.
Edit: come to think of it, as well as going from £340 to £295 I also got more benefits - £100k legal insurance and loan car plus (21 days and similar spec to what I've insured). £295 also included no claims protection, 12k business miles for £250 voluntary excess.

My car's going in for accident repair today and so decided to take advantage of the Hire Car PLUS which I have with Direct Line which should have got me a car of similar size to the Disco (although there is the caveat that they might not have such a thing available - fair enough, but then I was maybe expecting an estate or saloon?)
And so I was offered a 1 litre Chevrolet Spark:
I've politely declined.
After phoning around for a few seconds, they did manage to find me a 2 litre Avensis. But they want me to pay £10 per day extra. I've politely declined.

Iv'e spent a considerable amount of time this week hunting out some better deals. I was on an Admiral multicar policy, 4 cars, me, wife, number 1 and number 2 sons (20 and 22 yrs)
D4, Defender 90, Fiat 500, VW UP!
Admirals renewal came through at £3160 for all the cars. I have one fault accident, and both my sons have 1 year ncd.
I started ringing around to check various deals, and to say it is a complicated minefield is an understatement. In the end, I got the total insurance bill down to £2475 by using various introductory offers.
D4 ended up with Land Rover insurance at £668
Defender is now with Swiftcover for £202! (no I couldn't believe it either)
Fiat 500 is with Priveledge for £875
VW is with Swiftcover for £730
