Impoting Caravan to Australia |
|
I'm thinking of importing an Elddis Crusader cyclone 2013 to OZ. I was told they are in the process
of raising the van a few inches to give it more clearance.
What van is the best value/quality van in the UK, it will need to be able to handle dirt roads. Also what is the best UK caravan website to use.
What do you suggest.
Thanks Pete

Best Value 'vans right now are probably Bailey
Best Quality, probably Van Royce (if they are still going)
I'm not sure any brit built 'van would handle your dirt roads without falling appart.

Coachman are known for their build quality if you go onto www.coachman.co.uk you
should find a video of a test in Germany they carried out to see if it would stand bad roads.

That test video was very interesting, something to think about at purchase time. Displaced Yorkshireman.

SDV6 Auto obviously, Loire blue/Ebony, ugly kid glass, RLD wheel protector, private plate and maybe side steps.

Might be worth your while checking out the following South African website as they have quite a few off-road caravan discussions:

Forget UK 'vans in your climate, buy a tent or check German caravans (particularly Hobby) out they are built for hot Mediterranean climates. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Just be aware of the electrical "gotcha" in Oz. Wiring colour, electrical outlets and who knows what else have to confirm to unique Aust standards or it won't be registered. Jim Dowell - D4 HSE TDi, 12,000 hydraulic winch & hidden winch mount, MTRs, TyreDog, Traxide 2 x aux battery system, fixed air compressor, Dolium roof rack, MitchHitch.

Depends on how much you are prepared to pay!! But Airstream Europe vans are well built and certainly stand up to dirt roads - ours has been right around Morocco.
