Hazards constantly flashing

Boss has asked me for help with an issue on their 55 S D3.

The hazard lights are constantly flashing, the switch on the dash does nothing.
It's not the alarm as that's not sounding and was my first question.
Putting the key in the ignition and putting it to position 1/2 or starting the car stops it.

Sometimes with the radio and heating turned off. Removing the key switches them on.
It has a parrot system fitted for hands free calling.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Rest well old friend, your work is done.

Is the switch flashing, does the switch still flash when you turn it off?

I had this happen to me when I had a trailer hitched up with a bad connection, might be worth doing a bulb check

Had this on a D1. Only happened when daughter was a front seat passenger. Seemed she could bang her feet on the floor in a way that set off an impact sensor somewhere. Solution was to "loose" that particular CD.

I had similar with my brake lights when I first got my 56 SE. As mentioned above, this was due to faulty towing electrics. The external socket, adjacent to the towball, had water ingress which had eventually corroded the wires/terminals causing them to break and short out. Result was continually flashing HL brake light, even with car locked . Stealer replaced socket, re-wired and all sorted!

I would look in that direction, particularly if it has towing electrics and/or in the cubby box to the LHS of the rear / boot section where the brake light and factory loom terminates with various connectors for retro-fitting towing electrics etc. #

It does have towing electrics with the heavy duty tow bar.
Will get them to check the electrics.

just unplug the 2 connectors in boot (behind rear passenger side cubby cover ) if the hazzards stop then you know its the towing electrics

They have tried all the above, now the hazard lights and door lock/unlocking is going off.

Any more ideas?

has this vehicle recently had a full valet ie under bonnet ? Is it possible they have got water in the fuse box. Had it on P38's etc with over zelous valeters.
Has it ever had a screen in it & is there a possibility of water entering the CJB behind the glove box?
Just a couple of thoughts.

I found on the site info about an Eco behind the battery.

The blue connector is all corroded and the ecu is soaked through.
Has been removed to be dried out and cleaned up.
Shall report back with findings.

Common issues with them. No repair kits avaliable, so requires the connector to be re-pinned, ans possibly a new ecu

Update to lay this to rest.
The ECU had loads of water on it, the middle blue connector had loads of corroded pins so they were all cleaned up and the ECU dried out.
Thankfully that has worked so we had put some sealant on the connectors to stop water getting at them again.

Today we checked mine to see if I was going to have the issue. When we removed the cover my ECU was like new, no water Ingres signs anywhere. Sealant has been applied so it stays that way.

The ECU is behind a cover that's visible when you remove the battery. As pictured.

So should anyone bother to use the search function in the future. This thread will show the likely issue and how to fix it.
