I think it's because they don't want bad publicity from crashes etc. I likened driving the route in a D3 to Geoff Capes running the 100m with a bunch of Usain Bolts. I had to keep my eyes on what was coming up behind me and allowing them to pass, as well as trying to give the car as much wellie as possible . Certainly gets the adrenaline flowing.
