road trip..the short one..
so been home for a week or two and got ichy feet so when my friend called and said we are driving out to get a new dog I had to tag along.
the destination is not too far from where I live and is famous for its irrigation system its called Dujiangyan
which was constructed to not only divert water for farming but also to control flooding. the river is one of those tributories
during the big earthquake the town was flattened and has now mostly recovered.
It also has a famous bridge which is quite decorative
inside the bridge the panels all have different paintings depicting scenes from stories or history (depends who you ask)
from the bridge you can see another bridge in a typically chinese style
and for those that miss my ever gleaming polished car here it is outside a noodle shop
inside the noodle shop they press a paste to form noodles just like using playdough. its crazy spicy and leaves your mouth quite numb and zinging
then off to vist some shops. This one sells interesting communist items
having collected the new dog we returned to my friends home and viewed his friends newly built wine cellar
this is the door. It is carved into the mountain
and it goes for quite a way. the wine it hold is a Chinese liquor about 50° proof
who makes the wine? I hear you asking? well here are some of the workers hard at work..come on get your back into it...
back home now and my friends puppy takes a liking to the car. This dog is a saliva machine. the keen eyed will note the car is now clean..
really it just leaks saliva everywhere..naughty puppy (its 4 mnths old)
so this is why we went, we collected this bitch for mating.
but not today because I think she has a headache
my friend has a few of these mastifs. not all friendly. this one can only by handled and fed by one person..it is not your friend and has crazy killer eyes
The next day we went to a military airfield to fly some planes (models) on the auxilary runway. unusually many bride and grooms were there posing for wedding photos (a tradition here is to make an album of posed photos) It looked a bit sureal.
this is what flew that day..a mustang with a flat twin engine. which cut out and then crashed breaking its landing gear..oops it looked nice beforehand

and the typhoon which sounds great when it passes. Its electric but screams like a turbine when flying. very unsteady to fly..also crashed...double oops
then we saw this cute little lady, its been a few years since I have seen one of these here but this one was quite playful
now this was supposed to be the last fun before our next hol early next month when we pop back to the UK but.....could not resist squeezing in one last offroad jaunt this coming weekend ,well its rude not to....
roll on sat. It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.
