Ignition based connection for Blackvue ? |
|
Since my Blackvue is utter tosh and records non stop I need to change the fuse connection from the live no 41.
Can anyone advise on a spare connection that is 'ignition' live.
Would rather use one of the spare connections rather than piggybacking an already fused circuit.
Muchos thankos ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Don't know about a spare fuse position, I just piggybacked fuse 41 (permanent) and 53 (Ignition) for the power controller I bought with my blackvue

I left the socket from the power saver in the glove box so I have the option of unplugging when in the garage and I don't need it recording
Have you tried turning down sensitivity so it doesn't record constantly Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

@ woody: I must've seen you post this elsewhere as I did recall no 53.
I did try this but the camera was still filming even though I hadn't had the ignition on.
I left it or 20 min the checked (from the outside, without unlocking the car) and whilst the camera wasn't recording, the GPS light was on.
Is this from the the BVs own internal battery, if not then connection 53 must be live and not ignition related
@ muddy: yes turned sensitivity down but no joy ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

@ muddy: turned the sensitivity down on my front camera and it is no longer recording constant, although sometimes I'm not sure why it is recording. Not turned the sensitivity down on the rear camera yet but that one is not recording constantly when in park mode. Need to turn the sensitivity down on the rear camera for driving mode as it is seeing every little bump in the road as an event.
@ ronp: Fuse 53 is the cigarette lighter circuit, so should be an ignition feed - certainly is in mine as I have tested it with a multimeter plus both my bv's change to park mode and vice versa when the car is stopped/started

Just taken the dog for a quick walk - nothing else to do as we had a power cut for approx 25 minutes and noticed when I came back that even though both bv's were in park mode and the GPS lights were turned on, they were not recording anything at all.

What do you reckon is powering the GPS light - the D4 or internal BV battery? ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

As it is connected via a BV power controller it should be being powered by the D4, I have just checked the recordings on both units and it has not been recording constantly since the D4 was parked - not quite got the sensitivitys set up right yet though - but on the other hand I guess it is better being a bit too sensistive.
I have also changed the colour of the LED, front one is now white and the rear one red when in normal mode, didn't want any trouble with plod!

I connected yellow switched live to cigar lighter F52 on RRS, red permanent live to trailer battery supply F48 on RRS and set all lights off so it does not show at night
The only light I cant switch off is the green satellite signal that is on all the time when powered on even in park mode
The internal battery does not appear to have any use other than shutting down in the event of power disconnected Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Yes, that's what I was trying to establish, surely if this GPS light is on [and it's not powered by the internal battery] then that 'ignition' feed must be live at all times, irrelevant of what lights are showing on the BV ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

How is yours connected ronp? Mine (and I believe Muddy's too) is connected via a power controller that at all times has a live feed from the vehicle battery unless the voltage drops below a certain point (11.8v in my case). The ignition feed from fuse 53 has no power approx 10 minutes after turning the car off.

Mine was wired in to 41 with no power controller but as that was 'live' and my BV records 24/7 I moved it to 53 the other day.
However I can confirm on my D4 ........ 53 IS LIVE!!!
Was out kayaking today, so parked up for a good few hours ......... and the BV kept on recording (already overwritten this mornings 1 1/2 hours drive on the 16gb card).
And that confirms why the GPS light was always on.
So tomorrow need to have a rummage around the fuse box for a true 'ignition' connection........

Very strange, are your cigarette lighter sockets live all the time too?

Don't know yet as there are only caps over the sockets., no lighter.
Will stick some gadget in them ( if I can find one ) and see.
Btw did see a fuse beside 53 is also a cigarette lighter. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧
