Park Brake - different issue! |
|
Hi There,
I have had my fair share of epb failures since I got my 54 (Man) plate D3 7 years ago, however now I have something different!
The epb works ok most of the time, however occassionally the epb wont apply with the switch!
when this happens the brake applies when the key is taken out of the ignition without any problem, so I assume that the mechanism is working ok.
If I try the switch a number of times I get the dreaded orange epb warning light.
I have had a new switch fitted - no difference, any ideas?

The shoes need to be adjusted to the correct procedure as a starter, then try holding the epb button down when you switch off the ignition and take the key out, ( make sure you are on level ground and foot on brake pedal) the epb should not apply when you take the key out, put the key back in and try to operate the epb and see if it moves to on, I have used this method a few times and its sorted it out with the switch problems.

Hi All,
Thanks for your responses, I will give the reset option a try, but won't be able to try until weekend as I'm away from home!
Is there any way of easily checking if shoes are adjusted correctly?
I have a new switch fitted (centre console) this is the only one isn't it?
Really appreciate all your help here, I have a 1963 88inch which I rebuilt myself, but when it comes to the D3 I feel like a caveman!!!!
D4JWW - whats the 'still running' comment - should I be worried, or just sell the damn thing?
Thanks again - Steve

No only by removing the wheels and adjusting them to the correct procedure..
