Flat battery now engine warning light up
Was out in the middle of nowhere today (near Hess) diving, when I went to start the car this afternoon it just didn't want to know, no attempt to start at all, but all lights and sequences seemed ok and the heater fan came on as normal. I don't think the doors were open or anything on for more than usual.
Luckily I had jump leads with me and another D4 with us, and after reading the handbook, connected the jump leads, positive first then negative to a handy earth point, not the battery and it started first time. The amber engine management light has stayed on though, even when driving and after letting it go to sleep and restarting, which was no problem after a 2hour drive.
Obviously it will need to go to the dealers, but anyone had the same or have any ideas?Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Does the battery appear to have charged back up after the drive ?

Still need to charge the battery with a proper charger. Land Rover quote at least 8hrs continuous driving with no other electrical loads to charge a battery.

Just given the battery in my D4 a 24hr charge, will see how it goes now. LRA fitted a new battery last week because of a dead cell, week later started getting battery low messages again I spoke to the dealer and they recommended a 24hr charge as the 'new' battery could have been sat on the shelf for a while before it was fitted to my car. They said that they would charge it up for me, but I said that I would do it, told me to let them know if it didnt cure the problem.

Hmm, engine management light was showing when we went into Glasgow this evening, on the way back it had disappeared, maybe it was showing up because the battery was a little low still. It's going in in the new year for the hesitation, they can check it then if it hasn't reappeared.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Didn't think you guys would come down today, Dave.
Figured since it was raining you guys probably didn't want to get
all your diving gear wet.
Maybe see you next time when is dry

What a fine start to Thursday, flat battery again, had to resort to the reliable 20 year old defender to get to work rather than the brand spanking D4, something wrong somewhere! Joined the BMWX5 45e group

We all know things go wrong, but that's pretty poor for a brand new car Dave....think a "firm" call to the dealer to get it in asap might be the way to go
(Looks like the Diving Gremlins were paying you back for diving off the West coast ) "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

I had to get to work this morning but have called parks now to see howi stand as far as transport is concerned. I thought, to get a car from LRA I had to get transported in, as it turns out I just have to call them out and if it isn't fixed then Ivan drive in and still get a car.
