X Charge split charge relay
Has anyone fitted the X Charge split charger relay in a D3 and if so where do you pick up the ignition live feed from as X Eng suggest this is from the back of the radio.
Alternatively is there another Split charge I should be considering?
Thanks
Andy

Just fitted my T-Max. Took a day with breaks.
Not fully finished as SWMBO is away at a conference overnight and has taken the car.
The system is all pretty much in place. Just need to source a aux battery and wire the two batteries in.Ian

Ive found that I still had an X-charge relay sitting in my box of bits but the instructions indicate a connection is required to a switched ignition live.
where is the easiest place to make this connection?
~Thanks

you can just pick up one of the ignition lives in the fusebox Andy and use a piggy back fuse holder, would need to check the handbook for exact number/location thoughand theeeeennn......???

Hi Fogga and thats a DC/DC converter.
With the D3/D4 high current capabilities and an Optima as the auxiliary battery, a VSR type split system is far superior and will charge an Optima faster, but works out cheaper.2008 TDV8 RR Lux + 2009 D4 2.7

in readiness for fitting at the weekend one other thing I wanted to ask is about earthing the Auxiliary battery. Is it better to run the negative on the Aux back to the starter battery or to take it direct to ground?
Not sure if there is already a standard earth point that can be picked up near the auxiliary position.

Hi Andy, and if you have a look along the inner guard, up towards the back of the auxiliary battery compartment, you’ll see an 8mm stud.
This has a rounded nut on it and is the earth point for a battery.
