My brother has just bought a Discovery 3 and when reversing, the mirrors move so you can see the curb

It can, in the settings menu controlled via the information button on the left hand stalk. Turn the key to position 2 (ON, but not Start) and it brings up the options menu, use the cruise control buttons to move through the menu and it's in there somewhere. 2014 D4 XS

They can also be adjusted to your brothers requirements if they dip to mutch and to your requirements if he lets you have your own key.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Yep, press your seat number, put it in reverse, adjust your mirror to where you want it when reversing, press Mem, press your seat number, and the dash display will say your seat memory is stored.
The next time you go into reverse, it will recall that mirror position.
Only if your memory module hasn't developed dementia over the years like mine has.
Bloody mirrors move when they want to where they want and the seats/mirrors stopped moving to 'er indoors preferred position ages ago Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills
