Im sorry if this has been done to death before but _____
The advantages of a remap circa £700 ! have been expressed by my local place. He reckons inceased performance and 10mpg improvement ???? He also says that hesitation / which gear from an almost stop problem goes!
If thats true I'm impressed but what are the downsides of a remap?
You can buy a lot of 10mpg for £700

10mpg would be a miracle I would think. If your looking for a remap speak to pete bell as bas autos as his maps are excellent. I have one and I get Good performance now and gains of around 2mpg.

There are a lot of remaps out there and a portion of them will be rubbish and a fair few will be good. The would you are looking at seems quite expensive at £700 and like you say £700 buys a lot of diesel. The maps from Pete Bell at BAS are tried and tested, you also get a little box of tricks that allows you to remove and re-apply the map when you want, it's worth a phone call as Pete will offer his advice and knowledge on the subject freely. Good luck with your choice

As I thought !!!
In his defence the fella did say that improvement was on the normal 24/25 around the doors. The extra performance didnt really do it for me - I got a 260 brake sports car for that job! Its not why I bought the D3

2-3mpg is more realistic, dependant on driving style
But the temptation to press the go pedal will never subside with a remap
£700 is pretty expensive though. We were doing a deal on remaps a while back for £350 + VAT My D3 Build Thread

He maybe meant a 10% gain which might have been slightly more realistic.

It's a no brainer IMHO - Pete Bell of BAS has the answer .. but be aware he's away for a couple of days:-

I'll fly in & do the remap for fifty quid less.....
I think everything you need to know has been said before.
Its not just the extra power, it redefines the way it drives, it feels better more drivable.

No harm but £700 he should be wearing a mask. I got a Scania R620 remapped for less than that and there's a bit more a stake there if it all went bad.
