I don't think that's a bad price for a dealer ...I've just px'd 09MY in for just a few grand less Thumbs Up

In my view, prices are about to take a digger as the 3 yr old D4's start to hit the market... I saw one (D4) at a dealer for £26.5K 3 weeks ago! £24K will be very toppy in a few months.

If it is a well-specced HSE and an LR dealer that's a good price in my opinion but then I bought in April from a dealer and paid 30k for a 33k one owner, pristine example. I could have had a 2008 HSE which was HSE and no other boxes ticked for 24.5k

It is very well specced though so HSE and then some Smile I'm happy even though I know it'll lose a lot over the next few years - you don't buy them for the depreciation factor that's for sure!!

That's not a bad price, but it's a tricky price range. Personally, I'd either pay more for a D4 or less for an older/ higher mileage D3.

Two important factors are how long you plan to keep it and your annual mileage. If it's the vehicle you want and you're gong to keep it for years, then fine. But if you might trade it in in a couple of years you could suffer bad depreciation.

If you like it, buy it.... get in it before the cold sets in and enjoy - why bother with a few grand more for D4 when you can spend that on BAS FBH heater and other such interesting upgrades to get the car exactly how you want it?

Personally I think whilst the D4 will command a premium, the difference will become less not more between the two - A D4 is a revised D3 (all be it reasonable heavily), the D5 will change things so much that grabbing last of the D3s will still stand you well.

I bought mine on the assumption it'd be worth about 8-10k in 4/5 years time, once some secondhand D5s start coming on to the market then I'll change up. Skipping the D4.

Thanks all for your positive comments.. I did purchase today and well pleased.. I plan to keep it for 5 years and will then look out for a D5.. It has taken me 10 mths to finally find the model I was after..

Good call. I bought my HSE new in 2006 for £38k done 133k now and I've been offered £10k as a trade in. Probably worth £11-12k as a private sale. So I'm past the worst of the depreciation now.

Isn't D5 due out 2016 at earliest ? That means will be 18 / 19 before second hand market is flowing at sensible prices ...that's 6/7 years & serious planning ahead Whistle
     Cheers Ian
