Sudden death

After a half hour stop at Tyndrum for breakfast the D3 would not unlock and there was a distinct smell of burning electricals near the front offside wheel arch . Opened the car manually with the key and tried the ignition ,totally dead. As we were towing a boat we swapped batteries , this produced a very sluggish turn over of the engine but no starting . Car now at a Landrover independent lix toll who are having problems trying to track down the fault . Any help please . D3 x2 D4 XS

Green wellie

Yes in the car park at the green wellie shop, but amazingly a very good Landrover specialist just 16 miles away who got me going with a 110 van basic but we got to mallaig where we launched our rib to get to our house in inverie

Still waiting

Still waiting for positive answer starter motor seems favourite at the moment so waiting to hear tomorrow. Re boat she is an 8.5 Humber with 260 Volvo kad44 diesel. Out drive .
Had a great run up to Kyle of Lochalsh today about 30 miles and saw dolphin enroute.so waiting for a broken D3 is not all bad . D3 x2 D4 XS

Verdict

Back home now , was an alternator seized which took out the starter too. Lix toll a great place . D3 x2 D4 XS
