As a matter of interest what do they fit as standard these days?

My 05 car had these on it from new I think (they are very worn now). Are they any good? i.e worth replacing like for like? They were already off the vehicle when I got it so no idea how they perform.

The whole tyre thing is just far too confusing for me Embarassed

I have these on my 07 car from the factory but my last D3 had Pirelli Scorpions. I find Goodyears better on wet grass and about the same on the road, I think they wear a bit better, at 4000 miles they still look brand new but the Pirelli's were starting to look worn already.

I do like the set up better on the 07 Model but then again, I like everything better on the 07 Model.

allways used them on my isuzu trooper and then on my 200tdi disco but moved to bridgestones when i couldn't get the size in goodyear for the TD5 GS Auto, always got around 45K miles out of them and they performed well in muddy fields with a caravan on the back as well as being civilised on road. will probably move to these once pirrelli zeros need replacing as can't justify full MTR's, would love to put the bridgestone AT's back on but don't make them in 19" as yet we live in hope

IMO, the Pirellis are brilliant on the road, they are softest compound of all the main brand tyres in 19" size. As such they will wear out faster than harder compound less grippy tyres.
So far I've been fine with gentle off-roading & others have reported that they are capable of some fairly serious off-road work.
Personally, I'd rather pay more on tyres for the extra on-road performance. But I'm used to replacing rear tyres at c.5-8k miles & front tyres at c. 10k miles, so I'm delighted to be saving so much money.
The Pirellis on the front of the D3 are wearing faster than the rears & I guess that they have perhaps another 1.5k left in them. Therefore, c. 18k miles for the fronts. Most of that is m/way miles though, which Isn't very harsh on tyres.

Very Much Ouch !!!!! Confused

never get less than 40k on all my 4X4's for the last 18 years TD5 did 95K miles on just 2 sets (1 Michelin and 1bridgestone AT's guarenteed for 50K by supplier), must admit the pirreli's are showing signs after just 10K but i would guess they still have around 15-20K still on them which would mean they won't do as well as the Michelin's , goodyears or bridgestones i have used in the past, all of which have been at least 50/50 on road offroad tyres.

Yep the 07 is perfect, just as it should be I suppose. 2 06 Models down and now I have this one I wouldn't believe that they came from the same factory! Very Happy

tintenter, are you serious??? who was the supplier? I need their number...
Looking at my Pirellis after 9,500 miles, I'll be impressed if they last much beyond the 1st service/15k mark. So anyone guaranteeing 50k worth of "life" is of GREAT interest...

it was a small local supplier that i have used for years, think i paid £400 all in fitted with guarentee for 4 bridgestone ATs when i sold the car in october they had done 47K and still looked like they would go another 10K at least, would love to put the on the d3 but no 19" available so will have to revert back to the goodyear all weather wranglers not sure how much they will cost know Laughing Laughing

It would be good to know how you get on, price-wise. Kwik-Fit seem to offer the best Pirelli deal, provided you buy 4 tyres (£600 fitted/balanced). BUT... from the posts/threads on the subject (plus my own experience), the Pirellis don't seem to give any longevity, & Goodyear or Michelin is the way to go, at the expense of a tiny bit of grip.

Think Kwik-fit are currently doing 30% off if you buy 4 tyres
