C1A00 - System Programming Failure - Missing Calibration

Or.....
How do you get the suspension height calibration done when the car won't sit at any of the height settings without always going into Extended Mode.

Using MSV2.

So, we're in the Pyrenees, one of the cars had a Rear left height sensor went faulty on a D3 before coming, new one went on and the Indi dealer said it needed to have updated software in order to calibrate it properly. After he'd tried recalibrating it.

So, body control module now updated and the issue still remains. Suspension Compressor is original compressor, but apart from overheating because weve used it so much, it pumps in enough pressure fine.

Getting the C1A00 error above.
Whenever the car is running, it constantly puts you into Extended mode.

I've tried jacking the rear up to get the required height.

Ive tried releasing all the air and copying over my suspension values file. (I know each car is different, but it was hoped that it would at least sit at one of the levels)

It wont sit at any height without going into extended height. Even changed the new sensor for another new sensor to make sure it isnt that part faulty again. (you can audibly hear the old faulty sensor grinding internally when you move it) No errors anywhere to say any of the other sensors are faulty.

Does anyone have any ideas.......

Cheers

Ian

Thanks Marco, I know how to set the calibration when it already can sit at normal mode, but the car will not sit there and keeps going to extended height.

Hi Bodsy

I don't know anything about the MSV2 but I had similar problem with my D3, it was constantly in extended height and when selecting offroad, normal or excess it would lower slightly then boost back to extended saying "remove obstacle from under car".

The only way I got the car into normal height was to drive it above 40mph i think, and let the car lower to normal that way.

In the end it turned out to be a crushed air pipe around the compressor after the dealer changed the rear aircon pipes.

Not sure it helps but worth a shot.

Lee

Thanks Lee,

it doesnt even say that, it just goes to Extended mode. Will check the air pipes, but its not had any other work on it. Will hopefully be able to check in the morning.

Try a "hard reset" ?........................

Can you change "value" for each sensor ?
Can you read the "actual" values ?

Can read the actual values, but the calibration values are for extended height that it tries to go in, rtaher than the std height....

ok
I not familiar with the MSV2, but you can write new value?
To "fool" the ECU?

Nothing wrong with the control knob height?! ....

The new sensor is ok? Can you try with one from another vehicle? .

Sorry if I'm wrong, I try to help, we never know . Embarassed

You can input the values manually, to get the car into a setting suitable for a calibration. Don't know if you can do this with the MSV...

Failing that, watch the live values as you lower the car, one of them should 'stick' and the car will then raise itself. This should indicate what corner the fault lies

Thanks for that Mikey, I would say it is likely to be the height sensor that has been changed that is out of calibration?? or could it now be any of them?

Can look at live data in the morning as the locals are getting a bit antsy when the car keeps getting started on the campsite... Embarassed

Not sure if it is related but if the dryer gets blocked it stops the air being exhausted when you drop the vehicle it causes the suspension to think it is stuck and goes into extended mode. Try dropping it to access and seeif it does it? Idea

You can switch off the EAS module by going into the input / outputs Section ... That way the car should sit still why you try and calibrate it

Just remember to hand it back to the car afterwards

OK, had tried (perhaps only part of) that, the values that are entered, I've been working on the premise that the calibration needs to be at the normal height (485 rear 465 front) to calibrate. Otherwise is there a better way to get the values as the car will be sitting at strange heights as it has been trying to get to Extended height.... Confused

If it's had 2 new sensors on the same corner, and the fault remains, it's unlikely its that sensor that is faulty.

If the dryer was partially blocked, it may well cause this issue. For all the time it takes to drop the bottom cover off the compressor, and pull the pipe out the dryer, it's probably worth trying it. It will at least eliminate it, if nothing else.

The is also the option in the AL system to restore the system to its last known good stored values.

The only other way I can think of is to calibrate it manually (without the engine running) and jack up each corner manually... It may not cure the underlying cause of it going into extended height though
