Tailgate Actuator Photo's required
Does anyone have any photo's of the trim that i need to remove/break to get to the upper tailgate cable.
I can here the actuator when i use the button but nothing happening so i assume the cable has broken.
Thanks,

You don't brake anything repairing this fault. Get in the boot! Where the lower tailgate latch is put a small chisel or wide screw driver up under the black plastic top trim. Move the tool handle from the bottom to the top prizing out the lower carpet section. You can pull the lower trim away from the tailgate about 100-150 cm away from the tailgate. Now insert your hand and remove the foam water shedder. Behind the shedder is the black Bowden cable. Cut the plastic cover and the outer metal part of the cable to show the inner cable. You can do this with some side cutters.now you can pull on the inner cable and the upper tailgate will release. Disassemble trims replace latch and shedder and refit trims! Job done-no breakages!! 8)

Only problem being i cant get the cable out far enough let alone getting enough room to get a pair of cutters/knife in,there have been suggestions of putting a screw driver in and levering the latch, how the are you meant to do that?
As you can tell i am starting to loose the rag as i have been at it for so long now i have no skin left on the back of my hands
Thanks anyway for the advice though.

Brian
you should be able to expose the ns front edge of the mechanism the cable goes into and clips in put a screw driver on the black plastic clip part that sits in the grove and bang it towards the rear of the car should come out then you can grab the broken end with a good set of pliers and pull it to open it

New parts arrived today, many thanks to TLO
5 min job to replace and all working fine now.
Big thanks to Dave T for getting it open in the first place
As it is nearly 8 years old i am guessing the new one will last at least half that long by which time i will not have the car so i have chosen not to add an emergency release(oh i am so going to regret that ).
