Good shout.
I really don't get this idea of shipping tyres, and big ones at that, all around the countryside (sorry Big Dave) unless of course you are getting shafted locally.
First you have to source them then get them shipped followed by having enough balls to go locally to ask them to fit them.
If I owned a tyre fitting place and someone came in to get tyres fitted that had come from elsewhere I'd fit them around their neck. Member of the carrot crank club

Well that started the day with a grin.
I do agree to a point...........sometimes though we have to put a little butter on the bread, it never makes us happy fitting customers own tyres, I always say to go get your best price and we will try to beat/match a fully fitted price.
A quick little story; Local man wanted BFG AT KO 285/75x16 tyres, gave him a very keen fully fitted price but he found another tyre dealer 38 miles away to save him £4.00 per tyre fitted which he went for so a 76 mile round trip in his Landcruiser Amazon, next morning wakes up to find one flat so he pops on the spare which was a different size and drives the 2 miles, yes 2 miles to us to get it fixed, so on a Saturday morning with a que of five or six vehicles got upset when I told him we could not fix it straight away as we were very busy looking after our customers fitting tyres..................he spat the dummey out so I then explained had ne purchased the tyres from us we would have done our very best to get him back on the road ASAP.
So it just goes to show that you can only keep some of the people happy some of the time, and have to say we do try our hardest to keep everyone happy.
So I do think the way foward is to support your local tyre dealers if you can.

I have just been quoted 146 fully fitted from my local tyre centre for general grabber at's I presume that's a good price. Is there any issue having 2 gg's on the front for a while with Goodyear wranglers on the back as they still have some life left in them ?

If you can keep the same all round.
I would guess it's 255/60x18 General AT's at that price.

Yes 255/60/18. Is that price about right ? Good tyres for on road as well as off as 99% of my driving is on road or is there something better ?
