On recent trip to Kubu / Chobe / maun area and Caprivi I heard from three sources that there may be big changes in BOTS next year :1. Self Travelers may be limited to Park entry between 11.00 and 15.00 hrs. 2. Huge increase in day-entry to parks - Chobe was quoted to me up from P120 pppd to P700pppd !! and 3. All hunting may be banned next year - for me, this latter is good but the result will be massive poaching as the people get all meat results from hunting at present. Most game guides/ guards that we spoke to were very despondent. Hopefully this will not come about but the guys we spoke to were pretty reliable. The Chobe river is taking massive strain from Namibian netters, so much so that fish populations seem to be way down and Bots Gov is apparently in high level and urgent talks to try and limit this practice. Another bad experience we had was Chobe river cruise - along the river adjacent to Chobe game park is now like Jan Smuts at rush hour !! The number of "BUSSES" has gone from nil 2 yrs ago to 5 x we counted one afternoon - these are boats which now carry upwards of 120 people!
Having said that , we had a great trip and if all comes to pass there is always Caprivi with it's wonderful Game Parks - only one little problem, hunting is allowed in these Parks, we saw 4 x SA guys out hunting with very large calibre guns so it was either Elephant or Buff.
Regards to all
