Best way to remove Blackview (or similar) from windscreen?

So... I need to remove my Blackview from the windscreen (it is mounted with one of those strong sticky-pads). Can anyone suggest the best way to remove this a) without breaking anything, and b) without leaving a mess on the inside of the glass (though this is less important)?

Also - any idea where I can buy suitable sticky-pads for remounting later?

Ta... Thumbs Up

Try some nylon fishing line in a sawing motion to remove the mount and most of the sticky pad, then a bit of Auto Glym Intense Tar remover on the remaining sticky patch!

As for new sticky pads, number plate pads or 3M double sided tape cut to size will do the job!

I recently removed mine by carefully sliding SWMBO's credit card between the windscreen and the mount. This method has the added benefit that she can't use the card until the replacement arrives in the post! Thumbs Up

I had to remove mine to swap the screen... and found that these sticky pads aren't so resistant to twisting forces, especially when warm. If the above doesn't work easily, then you can try slowly rotating the Blackvue holder as if you were unscrewing it. Surprising how easily it releases it's grip.

we had the same issue after swapping cars for SWMBO the garage were very helpful in trying to but made it look like hard work. anyway the silicon was still left on the screen but just rubbing it with fingers rolled it up and it came away (note sure why it was so hard to remove the mount)
Experience is a difficult teacher, because she gives the test first and then the lesson afterwards!!!!

Zippo (other brands available) lighter fuel is great for removing any sticky residue from glass.

Just to wrap this up - I found that the 'twist method' worked a treat. I got the Blackview off easily enough, with the sticky stuff still mostly attached to it. That, and what little was left on the screen, then we're easy to rub off with a finger Thumbs Up

Dental floss works, use a sawing action as per fishing line.
