Hi,
During the last months my 1.5 yrs old D3 TDV6HSE (30,000 miles) has a problem driving over small bumps at low speeds (<40 mph):
The steering wheel moves from left to right when I pass e.g. over a bridge or sometimes even stripes on the road. really annoying. The smalles uneven things on the road make the steering wheel move.
I have the standard 18 inch tyres.
The dealer replaced all the fusions already, but no change.
Perhaps the tyres are the problem, any other causes/solutions?
Much appreciated,
Dirk

Check the tyre pressures and for uneven wear on the tyres, may need a four-wheel alignment carrying out

I've also noticed similar behaviour and changing over to new tyres has all but eliminated it.
The feeling that the front wheels are slightly wandering / alive (hard to describe) is still there but much less so. Kind of like the effect you get from tram lining, but subtler.

Thanks, the only option I guess is to change tyres.
But:
The wear is not uneven, the wheels are already aligned, and there is still enough profile on the tyre.
Weird thing, but I will change tyres, and ask LR whether it is normal that this already happens after 30,000 miles.
Dirk
I will let you know whether it made any difference, I go there tomorrow.

Well actually I will be chuffed to bits if I get anywhere near 30,000miles. 20,000 seems to be what I'll get. I had twitchy steering until I adjusted pressures which I hadn't done in 3 months

Thanks guys,
I replaced the tyres and it is so much better.
Too bad the dealership did not think of this in the first place.
regards,
Dirk
