What is leaking?

I noticed what appears to be oil leaking onto the garage floor. On inspection it appears to be seeping out of a 10cm by 10cm round object which looks like a filter. It has a black 2cm round plug at the bottom with a sensor like object and wire coming from it. It is leaking from that. It is located at the front end of the car just at the end of the large metal cover which runs along the middle side of the drive side. Any help what this is? Is it serious?

Sure it's oil? Sounds like a fuel leak I had on mine. The thing with the drain at the bottom is the diesel filter. Mine was leaking from one of the pipes that connects at the top. Best to get it checked out!

That's exactly what it is, thank you

Thank you, that is exactly what is leaking. Will get it checked out. Do you know if the leak will increase significantly, or continue to leak slowly? It is leaking from the sensor at the bottom.

tighten it a little more and recheck for leaks.

if continues, dismount the bottom plug and change the seals

or if the leak is for the sensor itself, change it. is a cheap part.

The leak is seeping at the sensor at the bottom - does this just twist to tighten? There is no residue from the the top of the filter?

Should tighten if that is where it is from.
