Bought mine end of 2010 its a 55my as reliable as any car ive had some bushes changed rest is serviceing 3 mots passed with flying colours 96000 miles love it still want to be youre best pal Bow down Bow down Thumbs Up

Just had replacement at 40K. FOC under warranty.

Have known for a while it was failing but to get warranty it has to be kaput! Sounded like brushes/slip rings as it developed a fair whine, which could be enough warning to get it changed if one was paying for it oneself. A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Yes this is what mine did. After a couple of weeks the battery was flat as a pancake (8v). Luckily no catastrophic meltdown as others have had. Andy

Mine gave up at 145k whilst on hols in Germany Crying or Very sad

Unfortunately the battery died about 5k after the new alternator was fitted, but luckily my kind LR dealer replaced this under warranty Very Happy

It seems there are lots of rotary items that fail between 100k and 150k (wheel bearings, diffs, CV joints, Alternators, Steering Pumps, Water Pumps, Oil Pumps)

Maybe a D3 is only designed to last that long anyway Whistle Never get mad - get even !!

06 D3 now gone to family member and still going strong at 265k

previous vehicles:
04 D2 TD5 - (clocked 189k from new)
52 X-Trail 2.2 SVE
various euro boxes !
