How did LR go from a design that worked on the MY04, 05 & 06 to the mess and revisions that came with MY07 & 08?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Great News...sort of.....JLR have come up trumps and after looking into the part in great detail, have agreed to pay 100% of he cost and replacement of the new engine.
Would appear that they may even be looking into re-calls or service notice going out as they were very keen in VIN numbers and part serial numbers....and with no hagling they simply said they'll pay, so I wonder if there is a fault out there we dont know about?
Good news though so will be back on the road in 2 weeks...I hope!Once a Disco, always a Disco...and I love my Disco

Excellent News John,

I dont think that JLR will for one minute do a recall on this, they will balance the probability of it happening and the probablity of someone claiming against them.
There are 20 of these instances that I know of (including yours now) all on MY07/ MY08 not all of them are on here. How many people will just get it replaced and have to stump up the cash.
JLR will surely only do this for those that contact them directly.....
But great news for you.
I would get them to check also the following:-
Rear Aircon Pipes
Rear Brake Pipes
Change the Turbo Actuator (cheap and easy with body off)Bodsys Brake Bible

I have the same DTC P0341 the car cranks but engine doesn't ignite. Checked timing belt for correct matches, pins match the holes, tension bearing and other things in place. Camshaft sensor changed two times from other running engines, checked the wiring from sensor to ECU all ok. Any advises?

Have you checked the rear belt to see if that is ok.

I'll check the pressure of HPP with barometer in stead of one injector and will see. Rear belt and tensioner changed 50km ago and it has no timing to the pump or cam. If there would be any fault in belt it should be the fault code for pressure etc.

Fuel gauge on the fuel rail in place of one injector shows 500 BAR and dataloging also shows 500bar from powertrain control module when cranking. Fuel pressure is enough to ignite, any ideas? engine suddenly ignited for one time yesterday, throttle pedal response good but engine doesn't turn on again.

Yes, i solved it. The timing belt and oil pump was changed by previous mechanic and he did a mistake. The crankshaft front bolt wasnt tightened enough ant pulley had small freeplay which caused wrong timing. Finally unbolted all timing bolts resetted the timing pins and tightened up to specs. I was happy that pistons didnt catch valves etc.

Mirovasi do you get extra 2 digits at the end of dtc? P0341-xx like this? It should be couple more numbers, I could check the LR description tomorrow for you.
