Hot brake discs?

How hot would the discs be expected to get after, say, a three mile drive but with light/normal braking at low speed? When stopping at our destination today the front brakes 'creaked' on a slight downhill slope, so when felt the discs all four wer too hot to touch. On the return trip tried to used the brakes very little and the front were hot, the rears slightly less.

In neutral on the slope the car freewheeled as normal so it's not as if the brakes were stuck on or binding (I hope).

Is this just the effect of having to slow down the d3's weight?

Do I jack up each corner in neutral and see if each wheel spins okay?

We're driving most the length of the UK in a week's time up to Scotland so if a trip to the indi is recommended just to check then I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Mine were red hot, but only the rears and that was binding parking brakes. Unusual for all 4 to bind but not an impossible coincidence I suppose! I would jack as you say and test for resistance.
