HELP - Central Locking WEIRD

Hi This is another small problem - that only you guys on here will know - so can you solve this one !

My girlfriend has a DS3 and last week she somehow left the ignition key on with the lights on - and the car battery went flat.

When I got to her - the only way I could get into the car was to use the ignition key to manual open the passenger door - via the key entry under the plastic cap on passenger door. (to open the car and bonnet)

Now the problem is:

Since I fitted a new battery in her car - The central locking works - BUT DOES NOT LOCK THE PASSENGER DOOR !!!!
its forgot how to lock its self with the system ....... Bow down

I have tried to lock the door - using the key fob - as normal - but the passenger door does not lock

Does the system need to be reset ? - How ?

many thanks for taking the time to read this one.

Cheers

Does it try to lock (sit inside an see if the tab in the interior handle moves).

If so then it's trying to lock but the latch is playing up and needs replacing.

Hi Martin

Thanks for replying

It was all working perfect - until the battery went flat.

If I sit in the car - the passenger door lever inside does not move when I press either the key phobe or lock button on dash

The only way to get it to lock - is physically lock it by hand - or get out the car and lock it bu key.

ITS LIKE IT NOW BECAUSE I MANUALLY OPENED THE DOOR FROM OUTSIDE WITH THE KEY - SO I AM SURE IT NEED TO BE SET

Does this make any sense to you Martin - I baffled at the moment

Thanks

if you lock it does it unlock ok with remote?
or does that not work too

check that the key barrel is fully returned as it has not beem used for a while

give it a wiggle.
It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.

Central locking might just be in a tizz - try a hard reset: http://www.disco3.co.uk/wiki/index.php/Hard_Reset

Hi Martin

Just done a full RESET - left the car un plugged for about 45 mins with the Neg & Positive car leads touching (via jump leads)
battery was completely isolated.

No Joy

cant understand it - it was all working fine - until the battery went flat and I unlocked the passenger door with key to gain entry?

Anyone know the answer to this - I would like to know

Thanks in advance

Sounds like the locking mechanism is broken, which is not uncommon and less than £50 to DIY fix.

In a way you have been rather fortunate as many have found the key lock seized or the lock internals already broken when it comes to the moment where they need to unlock the car with a flat battery. So common is this that a number of us have a method to charge or power the car without unlocking it (either a Ctek style patch lead or via the tow electrics).

Cheers for the reply

The locking mechanism is working fine - Door lock / switch / key lock - all perfect.

I HAVE HOW EVER FOUND THE FOLLOWING:

If I lock the door with the key (passenger door) from out side - then with all the doors shut/boot/tail gate SHUT - and press the key fobe - to LOCK CAR - The Horn SOUNDS ONCE !!!!!!

Cant understand this one - as ALL THE DOORS ARE SHUT.

The car thinks a door/tailgate/bonnet is open - TO WHICH ITS NOT

Martin have you any ideas on this one - if anyone can answer it its you.

Cheers all who read this also

Does it tell you if you turn the car on which door etc is open.

When my bonnet switch failed it was nice enough to tell me on the screen

Afraid I'm not the guru, just joining in with everyone else helping Smile

The horn beep is telling you it THINKS a door or bonnet is open - check the instrument pack screen for which.

Hi race.it & martin

The instrument console - shows nothing is open !

The horn sounds ONCE !

Every time i press the key fob to lock doors (ALL THE DOORS ARE CLOSED & INTERIOR LIGHT IS OFF) - then the horn sounds once - every time.

The passenger door will open (other doors locked) and ALARM WILL GO OFF - as I ve just pulled the passenger door open - because this door failed to lock

If anyone else is just reading this - Everything worked fine - BEFORE THE BATTERY WENT FLAT & I HAD TO GAIN ENTRY VIA THE PASSENGER DOOR USING THE KEY IN LOCK

????????? HELP

I believe that the battery going flat and the faults that have occured since are unrelated just a coincidence.

The horn beeping once when the alarm is armed is probably due to the bonnet sensor needing to be repositioned/cleaned or renewed (not an expensive part) - my bonnet switch worked fine after being cleaned.

The door lock is faulty, needs replacing - all my locks on my previous D3 went the same way.

if you are getting the horn sound the car thinks a door is open .... If the passenger side dosent lock on central locking I would suggest thats the place to start, but if you put the key in the ignition the centre console will tell you which door it thinks is open. I Havent had the door cards off but at a guess I think that is where this is going
Don’t worry it is supposed to sound like that...honest

WOODY179

The passenger door (all doors LOCKED perfectly) until the battery went flat

The Bonnet switch - is also PERFECT - its clean and works correctly

The instrument panel - shows NO things are open

Its just since that battery went flat - the passenger door has forget if its locked or how to lock its self !!!!!

This has got to be a simple fix - but how ?
