Can you not pick a supply up from the 12v socket in the boot area?
If it ain't broke... Take it apart anyway, how else you gonna find out how it works

Switched live is coming from he front aux socket which remains on whilst the engine is running and is unaffected by the doors. Perm live is taken from the towing electrics and is permanently on irrespective of doors or ignition. The wire for the lights is wired into the door wire so that should go off and does go off when the doors close.

It is very strange that the DVD switches off when he doors close though!

All ideas welcome.

Is it possible you've connected the door wire up to ACC by mistake? Here's what I did:

- Door: purple wire in roof light loom
- Ground: black wire in roof light loom
- ACC: switched live from centre console aux power socket
- +12v: permanent live from centre console fridge

Mine works perfectly Smile

What did you do with the other two wires from the roof? I seem to remember I ended up connecting them to the live, otherwise the centre console lights didn't work...perhaps something is odd with them if you don't connect them up.

Thank Simon.

I didn't do anything with the two spare wires, perhaps I should. I'll try and connect them up to the live tomorrow morning and let you know how it goes.

Thanks again for the help though.

Don't be connecting any spare wires up to live with out knowing what their purpose is you may fry something!

My connections were :-
Acc to switched live
Perm live to back of aux socket which has the relay replacement link
Earth to earth
The dome light wire went to the wire from old lightset which was live when door was open
Then faded down after closure.

You have your interior lighting mixed in with your install in the wrong place,

It's four wires you need to double check and not use those horrible snap on connectors as you have found out
You may have crimped on to what you thought was the earth and turns out to be the lighting wire.

Sit in yet far with doors closed and turn on her interior lights with your front consol then try the DVD player
If it turns on( obviously with ignition on as usual) then extinguish the lights and
See if the unit powers down.
If so then you Deffo got your wires in a mixo

Sorry, I didn't mean "to live" as in the perm or switched lives - but rather to the live from the dome wires (which is basically the door light. At least one of those wires need to be connected to the dome light, otherwise the side reading lights do not work. I traced the circuit in the old lighting dome and the conclusion I came to is that it needs to be closed. The other wire isn't actually connected in the dome, I *think* it's to power the rear AC if it's installed. I connected it up to the dome live door light without any ill effects, but mostly because I didn't want to have to pull the whole thing out again if it turned out it did need connecting Wink
