I'm putting a private plate on my recently purchased disco 3 and i'm wanting to get away from the usual square plate. Wanting to keep the registration all on one line. Has anyone done this? The legal size seems just to big for this. Does anyone know where a slightly smaller with plate can be bought and are they still legal? Ta

I'm sorted now folks, found a plate maker who does plates in a 16" x 4.5" and have ordered one.
This should fit on the back and look pretty good hopefully. Hopefully the size wont upset the bizzies to much to much either!

Yes, I've done this.
I've got a five digit number plate and it looks fine as a single line with legal size font, on a 14 x 7 plate with a GB logo on the left side.
The problem you'll have, with a 16 inch plate, is the tailgate handle lamps wont illuminate a plate that is that long.
It's a risky business tinkering with lettering and font size, spacing etc. but try to keep the font and size legal ( 75mm ) and you should be ok providing you don't get a particularly officious rozzer.
