I fitted a flip down DVD similar to the one many people on here have fitted.
I ran the 12V wire to the rear cubby hole and connected to the permenant live from the towing electrics. I then ran the ACC to the front aux socket and attached it to the live (+ve) wire. I then turned the engine on expecting the player to work and nothing! The door wire is connected and works but the DVd player will just not turn on?
Is anyone aware of anything I have done obviously wrong hear?
Thanks as always
Dave

Hahaha, thanks, I did try pressing the power button too but nothing.
Also I did connect the earth.
I'm really struggling now!
Thanks for the suggestions though, they are appreciated!
P.S. your post detailing your installation was invaluable, really really good, thanks.

Cheers. Unfortunately we're off to France Saturday which is why I needed it. Thanks for the offer though.
Simoniz, dumb question but the only 12v source I have is the car, how do I test it there? I know he front aux socket works so can I put he 12v wire and the acc wire directly on the positive terminal at the back? What do I then do with the earth wire or the door wire? I assume the door wire is irrelevant? Does nothing need to be attached to the -ve terminal of the socket?
Thanks again

Ok .... bonnet up,whip the cover off the battery and connect +ve and -ve then try firing up the unit ..... if it bursts into to life then all is good and the unit is not your problem if its still dead you know what your problem is .

After thought ..... is there an inline fuse on the power to the unit , might be worth checking if there is.

Cheers.
Just so that I don't do anything really stupid! Which wire should I connect to the -ve?
I assume it is the 12v and the ACC wire to the +ve terminal and the Black "ground" to the -ve terminal?
I'll wait for confirmation first though
, just in case!
Thanks

+ve is red -ve is black I am assuming so connect to each battery terminal and you should be able to test. Don't think the ACC needs connecting to test but could be wrong - what does the manual state regarding connection of this lead ?

I don't think there is any harm in attaching the ACC so will try it.
The manual is brilliant! I think it was written in Chinese and then translated using Google!!
E.g. " Please carefully turns on the display monitor when vehicles start, please to close the display monitor after puts well the small dish as soon as possible! "
Love it!

Right!!!
The Good News: nothing wrong with the DVD player
The Bad News: all problems due to my incompetence!
Tested it on the battery and it lit up like a Christmas tree!
So I plugged it back in in the car and nothing. I then ran an extension wire from the perm live cable in the boot to the battery and still nothing. So while this was still connected I moved the ACC cable and just touched it on the back of the aux socket and the DVD player came to life!
Turns out that all the problems I've had are because I was using a Snap-Lock connector to splice into the aux socket cable and hadn't clamped it tight enough shut to pierce the sleeve of the wire! Embarrassing but I'm really glad it's sorted.
Thanks for all the help especially Simoniz's suggestion to test directly off the battery which led to working out the problem!
7 hours of Peppa Pig through the stereo coming up!?!?

is it you have it wired to a switched live? i.e. when car goes sleep power is cut, does it do the same if car doors shut and engine running?
