What battery have people gone for when replacing the main battery? Euro Car Parts seems to have a good range, at reasonable prices with 3 to 5 years guarantee, at up to £133 as the top price.

No issue as far as I am concerned.
D3s are too fussy about electrics, so I'll go for the expensive LR battery with Land Rover Allegiance discount.

Iv'e got an non-oem one...and TFC recommended I change it back for a proper LR one before Winter kicks in,citing heavier seasonal usage etc.....another one on the ever longer "to do" list....got a quote not that long ago for £186 from Stratstone Edinburgh...seemed a bit steep "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

I bought the older type OEM battery from a dealer for bit over £100 coulle of years ago, well before the mags price hike. Might be worth phoning round local dealers to see if they have any of the older type sitting on the shelves looking for a home.

What did you get Euan, if it wasn't a D3 I would say if the spec is the same then one battery is the same as the other, a daft concept I know! Joined the BMWX5 45e group

ISTR the non OEM batteries can't cope with the higher voltage (15.4v ??) from the alternator, gradually knackers them.
Just what I gleaned, might be wrong though.

Anyone know roughly the price of the new tech batteries that they are now producing for D3 / D4 ? I know Nick will prob have the best price but transport costs of a battery prob high. Think I would rather spend abit more on the best for the job especially since I do low mileage and stop start with lots of accessories. Abit annoying that my current battery only 3.5 yrs old and looking like its already and it's only my optima aux that's keeping it going!

The newest vesion will be LR032260 which is an AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) type 850A 90AH.
The down side is the price will go up on retail another £70 so retail will be £198.33 + VAT.
If you want to buy from TLO you must collect I believe.

Think I remember that post now. I should be okay I think as my local dealers service manager tends to more or less match the 20% that Nick gives us on most items but with these batts being new out we will have to see I suppose.

No idea, never fitted them, but they are the same spec as the previous batteries. Pretty sure they were made by Varta too, but I have maybe just made that up...
950A, and 150Ah. Even if it only last 3-4 years, its still cheaper than the genuine LR one My D3 Build Thread
