How much of a job is changing the EPB?
I have a Disco, the inevitable has happened. Got my finger in her special little alcove and pulled the wire until her release. Had a bit of screening recently and it has come to a climax. My EPB is fecked.
Has anyone swapped one themselves? If it's not bad I'll give it a go, or my local garage will do it but they never have done one before. Or do I have to go to Landrover?
I am really going to be Nick @ Yeovil's best customer!

It probably doesn't want changing, just adjusting and as above, dig out the bodsy brake bible and see how to do it yourself. Only takes an hour inluding tea break 2014 D4 XS

EPB replacement
Hi
I would set a full day aside as if you encounter any siezed bolts it will be a pain especially the two bolts at the top of the chassis that you can only get to from right underneath, its apure pain in the on top of the epb unit you will need to replace all the spring kit for the shoes and make sure you replace the shoes as well and possibbly the discs as if the handbrake has stuck on it will have worn the inner disc surface.
All of the above needed done on mine and I was tearing my bloody hair out by the time I finished it and for your own sanity get some one to give you a hand as threading it back through all the other bits and piecies is a task its self.
cheers

Hi, You say the handbrake has been adjusted. Have the shoes been off, clean & everything freed off, inc the little wedge adjuster?
If not it might be worth trying that first before condemning the EPB unit itself. They can be damaged, but only after prolonged screeching.
