From what we've reason here and other places we are going to see about the GG AT2.
As this is our first 4x4 and have had mainly RWD BMWs over the last couple of years for winter driving. we will use the A/T tyre through winter to see how we go. We are bound to be better off with the 4WD system and also the snow setting on the car.
The reason for 2 sets of wheels is we don't want to ruin a set on 20" alloys off road on rocks and stuff but a second hand set of 18" wheels we're not fussed about and as we're looking to do a fair bit of off roading we will need the extra strength of the A/T tyre.
We'll have to see how we get on this winter with the D3. It's got to be better than a BMW in the snow. Ian

You will probably find that unless you are doing serious off road travel any standard road tyres will be sufficient for your use, particularly after a rwd BMW, what the Discovery will do on standard road tyres is phenomenal. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
