Tyre Pressure

Hi,

Now the book says the tyre pressure as 34 for the front and 36 for the rear with tyre size 255/60 R18. Taking corners the D3 screeches. But when I reduce it to 33 for the front and 35 for the rear the D3 screeches less and the ride is less bouncy.

So actually what is the best tire pressure?

Thanks in advance for sharing.

The ambient temperature affects the tyre pressure. Standing in the sun will add to that. When exactly are you measuring the tyre pressure? It can be quite a dramatic drop in hot countries like Thailand. Remember that here in the UK we don't have Weather as such, we have slightly brighter or darker shades of grey...

Probably best to experiment (as you have) and find what works best for you.

Well the tires are due for a change. I thought to change them to 265/60/18R. LTX A/S Michelin, as they are broader, hopefully the D3 will screech less. Do you think I will have a problem as the spec are 255/60/18R for the D3. And what should the tire pressure be? Here in Krabi, Thailand don't have highways but rather many corners.

Please share your thoughts. Thanks

Conclusion-

Changed to 265/60/18R LTX Michelin and the screeching has stopped.

The previous 255/60/18R were made in Honduras. Although it has about 40% more life but probably was not meant for hot climates like Thailand. That probably explains the early deterioration of the rubber.

Cheers

Embarassed Ain't checked my pressures for a week or three and was expecting slightly higher readings because of the 27oC weather

Upon checking both one front was 29 psi t'other was 31psi
Both rears 30psi .
Oopsie yeah I'm wantIng some ATs but not by wearing them down like this lol
So both fronts now 36 and rears 38.5 got a road trip soon so hopefully mpg should be afar better too,

Note to self more regular pressure checks......
