earthquake , floods and kungfu panda
hi all
had a few little road trips this week and if you have driven here you will know its quite an event due to the fab road conditions and highly skilled drivers.
photos in gallery under "road trip"
some photos taked by wife who if taking bad pictures was an Olympic sport she would easily make the Chinese team.
first we went to QingCheng mountain the home of Taoism (the yingyang stuff) with some friends who were going to get blessed for their wedding after they built and donated a school to the area.

this is not a normal event (the top taoist monk was flown in to do the ceremony )and a documentary was made of the day and as a large donation was submitted for the event I could also take photos (normally not permitted)
The mountain is the origin of Taoism "yingyang thing" and was the location inspiration for the movie "kungfu panda"
(insert mental picture of kung fu panda here to save me the effort of posting)

climbing up the mountain you will see lots of sticks jammed under overhangs. it is believed if someone is unhealthy they can jam a stick here to prop up the mountain thus increasing thier strength.

I went for a wee..this was the view..nice

my friends choice of car (his wifes 458 italia) seemed fun in the morning and he wizzed past me all the way to the mountain (curse that speed limiter).however...two hours of torrential rain soon put an end to his fun ..fat tyres 562hp and 3" of standing water not a good combo..hehehe ..one to the disco

in the evening a nice meal of a selection of ganguo dishes a very spicy dish.

the next day out again
this time to the location of the 7.9 earthquake that rocked the area a few years back.
with all the heavy rain everyone was worried about landslides "Wifes parents ringing every few minutes to see if we are ok “ I jokingly ask them what the sign "飞石" means as I had not seen it before.( it means flying stones i.e landslides) that apparently did not help to calm them (wife told me off for being mean:lol: )
on the way pass the dam that provides all the drinking water for Chengdu

so here is the car there

great scenery, just shows the D4 is better choice over the Italia.......Experience is a difficult teacher, because she gives the test first and then the lesson afterwards!!!!
