Help - passenger side electric seat
The passenger side electric seat stopped working on my car. I've checked fuse 29 and it's fine. My faultmate FCR is currently missing so I can't check codes, but they were checked yesterday with autologic and nothing untoward. What can I do to diagnose please?
Also, importantly, is there a way of manually adjusting the seat? At least to move forward and back?

FYI, I've been pulling wires through from the roof for roof mounted video, so the side panel with the seat belt has been off. Is it possible that there's a sensor near the seat belt feed or somewhere in there that's been triggered?

Hrm, pulled off the plastic cover at the front and I can see a relay, assuming that's enabling/disabling the power seat. Guess I'll pull that out and check it as first step.
Could really do with a manual way of moving the seat - it's in a really awkward position at the mo!

its quite easy to remove the seat, just a few TORX bolts once youve got the plastic trim off..Duncan

So, the relay is good (92 ohms between 1 and 2, click when 12v applied, 3-5 complete circuit when 12v applied to 1-2).
However, checking for power in the relay socket, when the car is on with engine running, shows nothing on 1 and 2 - I would have expected 12v, no? (The idea being that the 12v is sent to enable the seats to be used, e.g. when the doors are open or when the engine is running). 3 and 5 measure a residual 0.09v when the engine is running so the wires are clearly connected, just the control wire isn't there.
Any thoughts?
(Taking the seat out doesn't help me - I need to get it into a position that someone can comfortably sit in it, ideally by tomorrow early afternoon!).

Found the wiring diagram - fuse 29 is for the power circuit, 33 is for the control circuit, however 33 is also good (5A).
Any other ideas please?

Well, still fighting with this (and I'm not popular with the wife right now!).
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to debug further?

I have a passenger seat base available for £75
its currently on ebay with starting price of £30 - but would sell for £55 with 10% to forum
may be easier
dont know if your problem is wiring or the seat itself , sorry...Duncan

Ok, I'm finally getting somewhere! By applying 12v to pin 5 on the relay connector, the seats move . So, the fault is in the wire from the fuse box to the seat.
The wiring diagram in "front heated seats.pdf" from this forum shows that the live connections from F29P and F33P are purple and pink wires. There are a whole bunch of figures on the diagram showing probably junction boxes - SJ1 and SJ1119. So - does anyone know how these wires are routed?

Hi Simon,
the wires come down from the fuse box and run along the sills. at the b-pillar, they go inwards to the cenre console and the seat wires come up under the seats - I think tat is correct from my recollection. take a look at the photos in my gallery , you may find some that will help you

Oh wow that's a useful set of photos, thanks Dunc! Right now neither purple nor pink wire have power, but I'm going to trace them through to the fusebox as far as I can and we'll see from there.

Ok, got a good workaround
While I wasn't able to find the 12v 5a control wire, it seems that the 30A 12v wire was simply loose at the back of the relay connector socket. My guess is that I shook it loose when "fiddling" to find out what had happened to the control circuit. So - I pushed it back into the socket solidly, and now have a nice 2.5mm 12v 30A fused wire on pin 3 of the relay connector.
I then decided that the fastest way to get this working would be to bypass the relay entirely. Fundamentally it's only there to ensure that you can't move the seats when the car is off and the doors are closed - right? So I took a couple of spade connectors and some 30 amp wire, soldered it all up together and bypassed as per the photo:

The green wire on the left is my hastily created shunt and provides permanent 30A fused power to the electric seats.
