The plate on the drivers door of my D4 says that tyre pressures should be 33psi at the front and 36psi at the rear. This seems pretty low and I think is the reason that one of my front tyres got pinched on a curb. For road use, is there any reason why I can't run them at about 40psi to avoid having that bulge that they seem to have at 33?
Thanks.
Tim.

The figures quoted by the manufacturer are really only for guidance, and much will depend on the tyres you have fitted, the load, the weather (hot/cold, wet/dry/icy) and the surface on which you will be driving.
A crude test is the so called "chalk test".
Find a quiet flat place with a smooth tarmac surface.
Draw a chalk line across the tread of a tyre and drive forward at least one vehicle length.
The chalk line should have, in part transferred to the road surface. The line should be the
full width of the tyre.
If the shoulders are missing then the tyre is over inflated, & the centre of the tread will wear faster.
If the centre of the line is missing the tyre is underinflated, & the edges of the tyre will wear faster.
Repeat for all four wheels, and adjust pressures until perfect.
I have done this in the past, but you get and eye & feel for tyre pressure.
I run GG AT2's at 38F & 42R. Don't rely on forecourt pressure gauges, or those built into a pump.

and get a decent gauge - I have a Draper in the car & in the workshop.
