Hi you very knowledgable people! I have just had mu EGR's blanked by a local independant. He said there was no need for any patch. My car is a 2007MY on a 56 plate.
First, is he correct - fear possibly not.
Secondly. I am having intermittent faults appearing where I get two lights on the dash with a 'bong' follows seconds after by a third light (suspension) and an 'F' in the gear selector window. The car lowers and transmission becomes sluggish. This clears completely if I restart the car.
Now, would this be a symptom of a patch being needed? I stress that this happens at completely random times!

Martin,
If yours is Sallaaa7axxxxx then yes, you need the egr patch.
Some 07/08 cars do the same as yours is doing, down to the bump stops etc. This IS cured by the egr software update.Bodsys Brake Bible

I just got a blanking plate for my EGR Valve LR3 2007. Do I need to disable the EGR valve?
What can I do with the light on dash? Can I turn it off with the ODB reader and Delete the code?

No need to Blank EGR Valve just clean it, NO need to repalce
My car had the Engine light come on wit EGR fault code.
First I was going to Blank it off and get it remap. Than I though Why??
A lot of people buying a new valve or blank it off.
all I did is remove the 2x 8mm from the EGR valve and get EGR cleaner that cost £6.99 for 300ml
get long plastic tube connect to the EGR Cleaner cans and spray it inside the valve. a long small screw driver to push the piston in and out and keep spray it in until u happy.
my car lost a power because of the egr valve piston is stack.
I would do the same with the turbo if I had time.
no need to take egr our or spray it in to the air in-take 100% work direct in to the valve

Hi Bodsy, I didn't know you covered this area.. Next time you're in Northampton could you do me a remap and EGR blank? 2005 tdv6 so simples. I've got the blanking kit but not had a minute spare and too chicken to do the remap on my own.. visions of 3 ton bricks!

I spent the first 28 years of my life in Northampton, so good excuse to see the Family. I'll be back again Friday eve to watch the Saints vs Newcastle with the boy as well.
