Advice buying a new Disco |
|
Lo all,
i am soon to be a new diso owner, just need some help specing the car, I have a xc90 r-design and tbh i have always been happy with it, this is our 3rd volvo so time for a change and as we need 7 seats the disco was the obvious choice...
so this is what i am thinking...
Disco XS Fuji White with the standard metor trim and black leather..
Vision assit pack which is the adaptive xenons and also the surround camera - question 1 - i assume that includes the rear reverse cam ? not clear on the site..
Electric seat and armrest pack - is that both seats ?
20" inch alloys (the blackish ones) are they worth it ?
Sunroof - is it worth it ?
Privacy glass
So once priced up it is about 4k less then the HSE with much the same kit, I cant really see what I am missing? can somone tell me / and I wrong to go for the xs or should i go for a demo HSE and just accept it wont be the spec I want ?
also am i missing and essential equipment or adding some old tosh!
any advice would be greatly received as well as any recent insight into dealer margins ? and what I should consider a good discount... Autocar suggests a figure and I am close to that but want to make sure I get the best deal ...
Waiting in anticipation !
Wilko

Get a full size spare, especially if you are going to tow or go off tarmac.

Get an HSE.
You'll make up the £4k on residual value, as the HSE is by far the most popular (look at Autotrader).
I had a 2011 XS and moved up to HSE, better satnav with TMC,sunroof (yes, worth it), more comfortable seats, remote heater, included full sized spare and last but not least, the "mood lighting" is really special, I wondered about it at the time but it is very swish
You get an XS, and I'll bet you wish you'd had an HSE. Sorry, but I did!

Heated steering wheel.
Heated seats if not in spec.
Don't get the "bling" oversized wheels.

No heated steering wheel on my HSE, was an extra but I don't like hot hands (neither does my wife )

Whichever spec you do go for I woul definately ensure adaptive zenons, reversing camera, full size spare.
Plus tow bar, even if you think you will only use it for a bike rack for kids.
Personally I do think big wheels are a waste.
