Over the last few months I have been harping on about our D4 not performing correctly!
It has been driving not too well, and the lag on takeoff has been unbearable. It was also not as smooth as I expected it to be, and I saw loads of post where people were praising the cars smoothness etc, and I just couldn't understand it!
I have written to Landrover and had the gearbox updated which worked great for a week or so, and then the car reverted back to 'not nice to drive' mode!
Anyway, last week I had a new set of wheels/tyres fitted at our local tyre dealer, then went home to cut the grass! I needed to pump up one of the tyres on the mower, so plugged my compressor into the fag lighter socket in the boot to do so. I then forgot the ignition was on and carried on cutting the grass!
About 2 hours later I went to use the disco and realised the ignition had been left on. Anyway I drove down the road in it, and it feels like a different car! It's now smooth as hell and feels so much more responsive--its the car I always thought it should be!!!
So why should this be? All thats happened is that the car was jacked up to fit the new wheels, and then the ignition was left on for a couple of hours!
I can't get my head round it, but it's like a different car!!!!! Disco 4 HSE 2012 Orkney Grey

Sounds as though the car's systems have had a chance to wake up properly, or maybe your new tyres have made all the difference!
Or it could just be that the vehicle has not been properly PDI'd by your supplying dealer........?
Keep us posted on this one, sounds very intriguing! 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

How many miles has it done, and how many since the software updates etc., perhaps it was reset and has only just learned what to do.

Just to update you all, I am now more confused than ever!
Got in the car this morning, and its back to its old ways. Jerky on and off the throttle, lag on takeoff, and just don't feel that smooth!
Today I had to drive about 40 miles to visit a customer and was thinking that the only things which had happened to improve the car last time were that the wheels had been changed, and I had left the ignition on by mistake.
So when they changed the wheels, they obviously jacked up the car.
Out of desperation and curiosity I slowed right down in the car and put it into the high off road mode. I drove for about 2/3 minutes in this mode and then when I speeded up the suspension reset itself to normal mode. WOW! All is now well again with the car, and the rest of the drive back to the office was smooth, lag free and much more responsive!
How the hell can raising the car for a couple of minutes have made such a difference?
Is there a safety system somewhere that maybe thinks the car is in access mode and reduces the performance which is cancelled when I put it into off road mode or something!!? Disco 4 HSE 2012 Orkney Grey

Height sensor issue, loads D3s had height sensor problems, maybe they've followed?

So, when there were problems with height sensors on the D3's, did it cause performance problems? Disco 4 HSE 2012 Orkney Grey

So in short to improve performance and better ride:
* Step 1: Put your car in off road height
* Step 2: Leave your ignition on for at least 3 hours
* Step 3: Mow the lawn
Right?? I am of and wil report back later today

Interesting - I frequently do that, when running down a road with speed bumps! - and (maybe as a result?) have never had the lag etc issues
