Insurance renewal time - mods? |
|
It's that time of the year.
My D3 isn't heavily modded. The only real mod is a sump guard.
The rest (RAI, A Bar and Spots) are Genuine LR Accessories fitted at purchase by the original owner. However last year all of the larger companies regarded these as modifications, and refused cover as the car had more than 2 mods
I've been with Markerstudy through Adrian Flux for a couple of years, but web reviews of Markerstudy are pretty horrific if you end up with a claim. Anyone got similar mods and got reasonable cover through a decent company?

LRI cover all OEM approved accessories...winter and or mud tyres and a remap (if you talk the right talk) ...and not forgetting full off-road cover 8) Very competitive quote this year too 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

NFU were he only co that would cover my mods (incl remap) and give offroad cover. LRI weren't interested as soon as I said remap, plus they told me they didn't do offroad cover any more. DG, is yours the old RSA cover or the new lot, Britinsure(?)??

Right, got bored of being told insurers don't cover mods.
Called LR Insurance, the lovely Charlotte gave me a quote above my renewal quote, but mods are fine, two sets of tyres are fine, full LR approved repairs including proper windscreen cover etc, off roading is included (just excludes racing, obviously)
When I told them my renewal price they beat it and included legal cover. Anyway got the keyfacts sent through and happy with what was on there. Took out policy, if docs show dramatically different can cancel anyway. Didn't call NFU, they may have been less but got bored!
The insurers are Verex Group, who seem to be a full service outfit providing branded motor insurance, claims management etc. They do JLR, Vauxhall, Hyundai, Alfa Romeo, Mitsubishi, MG etc so hopefully aren't too awful since there are some customer orientated brands in there!
Definitely worth a call.
Thanks DG Dunno who you spoke to Del! Tony

Might have been when the BritInsue lot had the franchise, will try again at next renewal. Maybe whoever I spoke to was having a bad day or didn't want any more work that day. Just remember it was like banging my head against a brick wall.

The lovely Charlotte couldn't have been more helpful, emailed info over, called back twice
She also didn't ask 2 zillion questions - not sure if that's good or bad but made a pleasant change.
Probably just started there and hasn't got jaded yet Tony
