Me 2! I don't suppose the UK advertising rules allow one to saunter into that dealership (for example) and force a sale at that price?

I think legaly they have to sell it at the price,they just dont have to sell it to you.
i.e. their choice whether to sell it or not.

An advertised price is an "invitation to treat" (from my very poor memory of law). There is no obligation to sell at the price. The purchaser offers a price, the seller can choose to accept or not.
