Hey Wonky, I reckon we may have similar serial numbers as I have a HSE Stornoway with Alpaca, which left the factory on the 11th Dec and that would fit with your 18/12 delivery. I also had an unexplained delay.
I am going to fit my Steps and Tow bar over the coming weeks so as you're local (16miles) I might ask to pop round and talk it through.
You are more than welcome.
Towbar no problem, everything clicked into place ( routing the wires behind the dangly metal lumps though - you'll find out what I mean!).
Side steps not as bad as they seem - have to cut huge holes through the plastic cill covers though. Hope the lease company don't mind (don't care if they do really!).
So far done about 700 miles and love it more and more - towed the caravan beatifully, but s little 'joggly' (probably have to get used to that!).

How long did it take to fit the electrics? any tips you can give having done the job?

Electrics took me about 1 hour or so and involved dropping the spare wheel. This was mede more complicated because I had only had the vehicle a day and hadn't read the handbook!
The electrics were really easy to fit, being all plug in type, the only issue was trying to get the fitted clips into relevant holes behind the rear 'cross member'. I gave up 'cos it was fixed enough!
The tow bar took 30 seconds to fit !!!

Possibly a stupid question (never stopped me before, I know..!), but do all D3 have the receiver for the removable tow bar, or does it have to be fitted as an option..?
cheers

So when they charge £400 to install the towbar and electrics, that's a big hit..!
What is the DIY cost of fitting the removable towbar & electrics..?
cheers

I bought a towbar for £100 off of fleabay a couple of weeks ago, electrics new I gather cost around £70-80 from Yeovil and fitting is fairly easy (according to the posts) as they just hgave connectors & a bit of cable routing to complete.
At least that's what I'm hoping.
No doubt we'll get someone telling us they bought both of fleabay for £45... from an unsuspecting seller. Some people get all the luck eh!?Bodsys Brake Bible

I guess there must be quite a few of us out there waiting for Mar 07, I wonder how many?. I'm waiting for an XS also in Stornoway with alpaca that I believe came off the line in Jan. Is stornoway the new Bonatti ?- it seems to be a popular choice!
On a different topic, I seem to recall seeing a thread about how to tell exactly when a vehicle was built and what the build standard was, any helpers?
Only 26640 minutes to go but who's counting, also got a cool widget from Yahoo widget library to countdown the time to go - yeah I know - I'm a sad niknok

It was much the same last year - I, of course, couldn't wait and took a 55 reg in February Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
