Braking judder before stopping |
|
I have just picked up my D3 2007 which I'm really pleased with however there is a problem which I need advice on.
It is automatic (which I haven't driven before my previous D2 was manual) and I have noticed when braking that the car gives a slight judder just before stopping.
Is this normal??

Mine does something similar - it gets to almost stopped, and then sort of "jumps forward" a fraction before actually stopping. Anyone have an idea what it might be?

For what it's worth -
I worked out that this was being caused by the gearbox jumping into 1st gear. I was able to replicate the problem by manually throwing in first gear having come to a stop in second. Stationary in second, I'd pull the gear lever back and the car would make a small lurch forward as 1st came in (didn't actually "move" forward as I was on the brakes, but you can feel the same judder).
Now the good news - a megaflush of the gearbox has completely cured this behaviour

How many miles has it done? Approaching 80k? Any judder when accelerating under load, probably between 30 and 40mph? If yes to these, then I would be suspecting transmission as they were my symptoms and characteristics. Cured by megaflush, although in my case I still have to address the underlying cause of problem. 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.
