Have you seen the new specs. It appears that the basic and 5 door coil sprung D3 has now gone. But they do have a straight none turbo V6, why?

The S is now like the basic and the SE is like the old S. No wonder LR have got a mess.

That's a petrol V6, not a diesel.

Yes the petrol is a V6, but look at the other spec, why don't they have one spec for all. I cannot see any reason for a different one under the same badge i.e S being a basic and SE being an S with out this and that. No wonder LR are in a mess.

It would be a lot simpler if they had global standard spec. All down to marketing though I suppose, they don't even call it a Discovery anymore in the US and Canada The End

Strangely it's a LR3 in Mexico but once you go further down South America it becomes a Discovery 3 again! The End

Specs look pretty much the same to me, the Aus LR site does not say the S has air suspension so it must have springy things.
What makes you think we have flushing toilets down here anyway!!

anthill, there are some differences that make actually down grade your specs in each level. Basically you do not have a 'basic model because the S is like our basic. the SE is like our S and the HSE is like our SE with a few little extras.
It would be very interesting to find out if your S had coils?
It probably accounts for why some UK models have been badged incorrectly by the factory, pure confusion.

Yes, the S definately has coils, air and TR were an option. Just as a price comparison the S started at AU63,000 the SE at AU$73,000 and the HSE another 10k on top of that plus about AU$9k on road costs.
I opted for the SE being a poor pensioner.

As Slimer points out, it is all a marketing thing. You also have to consider not just the spec but the price too. And you don't have to go as far afield as Oz - the European specs differ to those of the UK.
